Billy Markus, the founder of the meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin (DOGE), also known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, has publicly criticized Bitcoin purists. Markus was responding to a video of Bitcoin enthusiast Robert Breedlove interviewing cryptoanalyst Jayson Lowery. As expected, Jayson raves BTC and calls it "the future of cyber security".
"But what do bitcoiners not understand about marketing at all? 'Join our group of apparently mentally unstable and failed individuals,'” Markus was quoted as saying on banned Russian Twitter.
Billy mocked the tactics some Bitcoin maximalists use to gain new supporters. In his opinion, supporters of this first cryptocurrency seem unable to promote digital assets effectively, and all the efforts of these bitcoiners make them incompetent in the eyes of the public. It is possible that Markus' views were influenced by how some of them describe his Dogecoin project as insignificant. Some orthodox supporters BTC are not only characterized by arrogance towards other currencies, but also by impractical ideas. One example: Max Keiser proposes to close all crypto exchanges and label altcoins as traditional financial instruments.
