DDR

RAM

“RAM” is short for Random Access Memory.  This is the PC's operating memory. A component without which you can't even turn on your computer today. At the same time, it is the basis of the popular abbreviation of the word that we use for operational memory: "RAMKA/Y"

"Frames" are the best friend of the CPU and GPU, and it has a very specific relationship with the APU (combination of processor and graphics card), which we will explain in the following article.

There are several parameters that will be of interest to us, namely DDR type, frequency, CL timing and whether it is single or dual channel and custom size. We are also interested in their system/composite, for example 1x16GB or 2x 8GB, cooling, XMP (overclocking profile) and type like DDR1,2,3,4 There are own memories for the GPU, namely GDDR3/4/5/6, but more on that later.

It is important to set the RAM to the maximum frequency specified by the manufacturer in the BIOS. Since there is a standard called "JEDEC" that will let your Frames work in "standard" speed mode, it will mostly be at half speed, which will have a big impact on performance, especially for mid-range PCs. And extreme impact on performance for all modern "PC APUs" (based today more or less only on Ryzen) although Intel is most widespread with the HDGraffic series, so it is APU 3xxx/4xxx/5xx. practically you can't play them much and they are primarily for office and multimedia purposes...

In our computers, we always try to use dual modules in a composition of up to 32GB so that the processor can use all its available lines for maximum performance. We will show right away that the decision to change or another song has a big impact. We will need two different PCs for reference.

As you can see from our comparison.. Simply changing the frequency has an extreme impact on gameplay and FPS performance.. And basically for free just by changing from “JEDEC” to “XMP” Of course you can get a lot more out of RAMEK.. But that would be about "precise" Overclocking and not just XMP setting.. Although XMP has a drastic impact on performance.. it is not all-powerful and nothing compares to the old-school setting of timings, latencies, etc.. The nice thing about all this is the fact that the PC from us you get a completely preset and tuned..

APU vs RAM

As I already mentioned, APUs are extremely dependent on the speed, composition and type of RAM memories, where turning on XMP can basically have an enormous impact in the form of up to a 70% increase in performance in 3D applications... Which we will show again on the reference PC

As you can see, the increase in FPS is enormous, because unlike INTEL, where such an increase is not possible due to the architecture, it is absolutely crucial for AMD. Furthermore, in this case, AMD leads the way. Thanks to open multipliers and the ability to hard set the shared memory that the integrated GPU eats from RAM, we can achieve results comparable to the lower series of the GPU core speed. Like RX550 2GB or RX560 2GB. But also GT1030 and in some cases reach GT1050 performance.

záver

So we already know that RAM is an important part of the holy trinity of CPU, RAM and GPU. Which sometimes has an extreme effect on performance and definitely a high impact on the percentage reduction of drops, tearing, and overall system response. In our PCs you will always find famous names such as HyperX, Viper and the like always with the XMP profile at its maximum!
