If you are not familiar with the world of Mass Effect, then the release of the remastered version is a great opportunity to fill the gaps in your gaming education.

The story of the game takes place in 2183, 35 years after humanity came across the remains of the Prothean alien species on Mars and with the help of the technology they discovered there, they understood the workings of mass effect fields and element zero. From there it was just a short step to travel at superluminal speed. Humans then discovered a system of mass transmitters that are spread throughout the galaxy and allow the instantaneous crossing of distances of thousands of light years. Humanity has clashed with various alien species and integrated into galactic society.

In the future, humanity will begin to actively explore the nearest planets, in 2064 the Moon was colonized, then Mars. On the red planet, the legacy of the Prothean civilization was discovered, which died out even before a possible pleasant encounter.

 

The story follows Commander Shepard, who is assigned to secure a found Prothean beacon on the human colony of Eden Prime. Being an elite soldier with special N7 training, he becomes a candidate for the first human spectrum and the mission is overseen by another spectrum, the turian Nihlus. Specters are special agents who are elevated above ordinary law and answer only to the Council, which resides in the Citadel from where they govern galactic society. However, Eden Prime is under attack by the g robotic raceethů controlled by the adept specters of Saren Arterius. Shepard manages to reach the beacon, but it is destroyed when it is accidentally activated, giving Shepard an apocalyptic vision of the destruction of the entire galaxy.
Thus begins Shepard's journey to prove Saren's betrayal and prevent the mysterious Mortals from attacking and averting the threat they pose to the galaxy.

Gameplay

This is clasican RPG with a large open world, more precisely an open space to explore on each planet. We move through space using the Norman spaceship, but we're not allowed to control it, basically being tossed from planet to planet without asking for our wishes. More or less freedom of action is given to us on the planets. Here we have to move using an eight-wheeled all-terrain vehicle with a cannon.

You can drive on it to many interesting places - they can be ruins, abandoned or even completely inhabited bases, caves and much more. Such interesting places are most often the location of the corridor through which we must go from beginning to end and exterminate all living things.

For every action you take, like killing an enemy or destroying their items, you get money. This is a universal resource for which you will pump and buy equipment. In the original 2007 game, the economy was so large that at the end of the game, there was so much money accumulating that there was simply nowhere to spend it. Hopefully this will be fixed now. Of course, pumping can eventually become more difficult (but also more interesting).

New content

Electronic Arts wants to squeeze every last penny out of fans, and 40 DLS is already preparing for the game with additional content in the form of weapon packs, textures, as well as new missions and story branches. It is also known that there will be no multiplayer in the game at first (perhaps this is just an attempt to make money when it comes out).

Graphics

The developers worked hard on the graphics. Whether it's improved or not is up to you. This game is developed for old generation consoles using Unreal Engine 3. Yes, they didn't change the engine, they just updated the graphics. If anyone doesn't know, Unreal Engine 5 has already been introduced to the public with next generation graphics support.
