Intel Celeron G1840
Intel needs no introduction. The company has been producing some of the best chipsets and processors on the market for several years now. The Intel Celeron G1840 processor is another member of the Intel processor family. It is intended for motherboards equipped with the new modern socket LGA1150. Processors from the family known as "Haswell Refresh (Haswell architecture), which also includes the Intel Celeron G1840 processor, will offer more modern and powerful integrated graphics cards, higher performance and lower power consumption in economy mode than their predecessor (processors with Ivy Bridge architecture).
Modern Haswell architecture
The modern Haswell architecture, which is used in the latest Intel processors, is another one that uses a 22nm manufacturing process using three-dimensional tri-gate transistor technology. However, the overall architecture of the processor has been noticeably redesigned. Haswell processors add new instruction sets and offer higher performance at the same clock speed. Like its predecessor, it integrates the processor and graphics core into a single case. In this new generation of processors, there has been a noticeable increase in the performance of the graphics core compared to its predecessors. The Turbo mode has also been noticeably redesigned, which is more efficient than before. Newly, processors do not have fixed frequencies together with voltages in certain steps, which are fixed, but everything is controlled according to the load and the need of the chip.
Quality performance and economical operation
The Intel Celeron G1840 processor is designed for motherboards equipped with the LGA1150 socket. It is a representative of a lower class of processors and is intended for the general public and especially for office use, where the emphasis is not placed on extreme performance, especially from the point of view of the graphics card. On the contrary, it impresses in these market segments with its low consumption and sufficient performance for normal office work.
Integrated graphics core
The specialty of the processor is the integrated Intel HD graphics core, which, like the processor, is manufactured using a 22nm production process. In the case of this processor, the Intel HD graphics core is used, which is clocked at up to 1050 MHz (Graphics Max Dynamic Frequency; or 350 MHz – Graphics Base Frequency) and uses shared operating memory.
Key properties
The processor belongs to the family of products for motherboards equipped with the new LGA1150 socket. The processor has a pair of physical cores where each of the physical cores is clocked at 2.8 GHz. As with the previous generation of Intel Celeron processors, this processor also has a memory controller integrated directly into the chip. In this case, it is a dual-channel memory controller of DDR3 type, and in particular, the Celeron G1840 model supports memory modules with a speed of up to 1333MHz. The processor is also equipped with 2MB of third-level buffer memory (L3 Cache).
The TDP (Thermal Design Power) stated by the manufacturer is 53 W.
