PC for PUBG: Battlegrounds – requirements and builds

PUBG: Battlegrounds has been free since 12 January 2022 and is not demanding for today's PCs: Krafton recommends a Core i5-6600K or Ryzen 5 1600, 16 GB of RAM and a GeForce GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 580. For 1080p and 144 Hz a budget current build with a fast processor is enough. On large maps, however, the game is held back mainly by a weak CPU and a slow drive, not by the graphics card.
Summary
- The game came out in 2017 as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and since 12 January 2022 has been free-to-play on PC and consoles.
- The paid BATTLEGROUNDS Plus (a one-off USD 12.99) adds ranked matches and custom matches, among other things.
- Steam lists 40 GB of disk space for the minimum and 50 GB for the recommended configuration.
- For stable FPS, the processor and memory are decisive. We recommend 16 GB of RAM, or 32 GB if you stream.

Which PC for PUBG in 2026: three builds
The builds are our recommendations based on components available as of 10/2026, not measurements. We do not give prices because they change quickly due to expensive memory.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Budget 1080p | GeForce RTX 5060 or Radeon RX 9060 XT 8 GB | Ryzen 5 7600X | 16 GB DDR5 (2 × 8 GB) | 1 TB NVMe | Full HD for a 144 Hz monitor |
| Optimal 1440p | GeForce RTX 5070 or Radeon RX 9070 | Ryzen 5 7600X3D | 32 GB DDR5 (2 × 16 GB) | 1 TB NVMe | 1440p for 144 Hz and above, more stable minimum FPS |
| High-end with streaming | GeForce RTX 5070 Ti or Radeon RX 9070 XT | Ryzen 7 9800X3D | 32 GB DDR5-6000 | 2 TB NVMe | 1440p for 240 Hz, streaming without losses |
What matters most in PUBG
Processor
A hundred players on a big map, vehicles and long-range shooting mainly load the processor. An old quad-core will hold back even a powerful graphics card. A current-generation six-core is a sensible baseline; with 3D V-Cache (the X3D series) the frame rate will be more stable.
Memory and storage
When parachuting in and driving vehicles, the game constantly streams in textures and buildings. On an SSD the map loads faster and you will less often see “empty” buildings without detail. Use RAM in two modules; dual-channel mode raises minimum FPS.
Monitor and settings
A monitor of 144 Hz or more makes it easier to aim at moving targets. If FPS is not enough, lower shadows and effects first. Keep view distance and textures higher, as you will then spot opponents more easily in vegetation and at a distance.
