Frequently asked questions

What is network hashrate?

Hashrate is the total computing power of all miners mining a given coin. For Bitcoin it is now measured in exahashes per second (EH/s); one EH/s is a quintillion calculations per second. The higher the hashrate, the more secure the network and the smaller the share of the reward that falls to a single miner. That is why miner earnings gradually decline as the network grows.

What is difficulty and how often does it change?

Difficulty determines how hard it is to find a new block. Bitcoin adjusts it every 2,016 blocks, i.e. roughly every two weeks, so that a block is produced every 10 minutes on average. When hashrate rises, difficulty increases and miner earnings fall. The “Next difficulty adjustment” indicator above estimates the change based on how quickly blocks have been produced since the last adjustment.

When is the next Bitcoin halving?

A halving occurs every 210,000 blocks. The next one will be at block 1,050,000, roughly in 2028 at the current pace. The block reward will then drop from 3.125 to 1.5625 BTC. We calculate the exact date estimate and the number of remaining blocks live above.

What is a mining pool and why does its share matter?

A pool combines the power of thousands of miners and divides the reward among them according to the work they contribute, so a miner receives a small but regular income. The chart shows how many blocks each pool mined over the last 7 days. When a single pool controls a large part of the network, it is a risk to decentralisation, which is why this share is monitored.

Why does Dogecoin have the same hashrate as Litecoin?

Dogecoin and Litecoin are mined together (merged mining): a Scrypt miner computes for both networks at once and receives both coins. The hashrate of the two networks is therefore almost identical; for Dogecoin we show Litecoin’s hashrate as an approximate value.

Where does the data come from and how often is it updated?

We read Bitcoin live from mempool.space and refresh it every minute; Litecoin pools come from litecoinspace.org. Other coin networks and exchange rates are updated every hour (mempool.space, api.kaspa.org, litecoinspace.org, 2miners, WhatToMine, CoinGecko). We verified the figures against public network explorers on 30 October 2026. Earnings are an indicative estimate excluding electricity and pool fees.
