PC Praha soundproof box
An Antminer in the living room sounds like a vacuum cleaner you can never switch off. Our soundproof boxes bring it down to fridge level – and the miner doesn't overheat inside. We design and build them in Prague.

Indicative values in a room. Actual noise depends on the miner model, the room and the distance. Every extra 10 dB is perceived by the human ear as roughly twice as loud.

All boxes have separate cold and hot zones, an upward warm-air exhaust and an anti-vibration mat.

How the box works
- Cold and hot zonesA partition separates the incoming cold air from the warm air. The miner doesn't breathe in its own heat, the chips don't overheat and the fans aren't overloaded.
- 4 layers of insulationDifferent sound-absorbing materials dampen fan whine and rumble below 1,500 Hz. We don't use mineral wool – the box doesn't smell or release harmful substances.
- Upward exhaustWarm air leaves vertically upwards, not into the room in front of you. You can comfortably stand or sit by the box. The heat can also be ducted outside.
- Anti-vibration matThe miner doesn't sit on a hard floor, so vibrations aren't transferred to the floor and the machine runs more smoothly and lasts longer.
A box isn't the only way to quiet
The best result comes from combining methods. Here are the other options – honestly, including the downsides.
- −10 to −20 dB Underclocking via firmware A lower frequency means slower fans. It's free, but hashrate drops and custom firmware may affect the warranty.Overclocking and underclocking ASICs →
- quieter running More, slower fans Four fans instead of two move the same amount of air at lower speeds. For the S19 our adapter is all you need.2 → 4 adapter →
- −10 to −30 dB Ducting the air out Ducting takes both noise and heat outside. Long runs with bends, however, restrict the airflow.Duct adapter →
- quiet by design Home miner The Avalon Mini 3, Avalon Q and DG Home 1 are built for the home. They do, however, mine less than an S19 or S21.Quiet miners →
- no fans Water or immersion cooling Removes the main source of noise, but needs a loop, a pump, a cooler and regular maintenance.Water loops →
- 0 dB at home Data centre hosting The miner runs in our data centre – no noise or heat at home, and you follow the earnings in the app.Miner hosting →
Frequently asked questions
Won't the miner overheat in the box?
No. The box has separate cold and hot zones: the miner draws in cool air and blows the warm air upwards, so it doesn't breathe in its own heat and the fans aren't overloaded. Just make sure the outlet on top isn't covered.
Which miners fit in the box?
Standard air-cooled ASIC miners – for example the Antminer S19 and S21 including the Pro versions, Z15, KS3, KS5, IceRiver KS1–KS3M or iBeLink KS-Max. Only the interior fittings differ for each model, so you don't need to change the box when you change the miner.
How loud will the miner be in the box?
With an Antminer S19, a room with Box 40 measures around 36 dB (like a fridge), around 38 dB with the double box and around 55 dB with Box 55 (like normal conversation). The result depends on the miner model, the room and the distance.
Where can the heat from the box go?
We offer a reducer for 160–220 mm round ducting. You can send the heat out of a window or into another room – and use it for heating in winter.
Box 40, 55 or double?
For a flat or an office we recommend Box 40 – it's the quietest. For a garage, workshop or plant room the cheaper Box 55 is enough. The double box makes sense for more powerful machines drawing up to 5 kW.
A box, or a quiet miner instead?
A box lets you run a powerful machine like an S19 or S21 at home, which would otherwise be unbearable. Home miners such as the Avalon Mini 3 are quiet by design but mine less. If you don't want to deal with noise or heat at home at all, you can put the machine in our hosting.
Soundproof box for an ASIC miner: why covering it up isn't enough
An air-cooled ASIC miner such as the Antminer S19 or S21 has powerful high-speed fans. Noise of around 75–80 dB is unbearable in the long run in a flat, an office or a house with children. If you just throw a blanket over the machine or shut it in a cupboard, you usually trade noise for heat: the miner starts sucking in its own hot air, the chips overheat, the fans spin up even more and the machine throttles or shuts down.
A good soundproofing box therefore has to do two things at once – absorb sound and let the miner breathe freely. Our boxes have separate cold and hot zones, an upward exhaust and four layers of sound-absorbing materials.
What to look for when choosing a box
- Airflow. Cold and hot air must not mix. A box without a partition will suffocate the miner.
- Insulation material. Mineral wool right next to the fans sheds dust and smells. We use materials that release nothing.
- Where the exhaust points. An upward outlet means the hot air doesn't blow on you when you sit next to the box.
- Ducting heat outside. Being able to connect a duct is handy in summer and in small rooms. For our boxes we offer a 160–220 mm duct adapter.
- Versatility. The interior can be adapted to a different model, so you don't throw the box away when you change miners.
A box for the flat or for the garage?
For living spaces we recommend Box 40 – with an Antminer S19 inside, it sounds about as loud as a fridge in the room. For a garage, cellar or workshop where nobody sleeps, the lighter and cheaper Box 55 is usually enough. If you mine with a single powerful machine and want to cut the noise as much as possible, write to us – based on your miner model and room, we'll recommend a specific set-up.
Heat from the miner as heating
A miner drawing around 3 kW gives off practically the same heat as an electric panel heater of the same power. In winter the box can stand in a room you want to heat, and in summer you can duct the heat out of the window. How much the machine will earn at your electricity price is shown in our ASIC miner profitability overview.
When you want neither noise nor heat at home
A box reduces noise significantly, but it can't guarantee complete silence at home. If you don't want to deal with noise, heat or wiring, you can place your miner in our hosting. For smaller-scale mining right in your flat, there are also quiet home miners that don't need a box. What else to consider before you start mining at home is summed up in our Guides article Mining cryptocurrency at home.
