Water loops for Hydro miners

Everything for water-cooling hydro ASIC miners: a 12 kW water-cooling kit, an ANTRACK rack for 4 hydro miners, a water block for converting the Antminer S19j Pro, power adapters and sockets, and Bitmain ANTSPACE hydro containers for farms.

Hydro miners are quieter than air-cooled ones and their heat can be used for heating. We will help you design the loop based on the number and power draw of your machines, and we install water cooling at our service centre in Prague 10.

How to choose a water loop for hydro miners

A loop consists of a hydro miner or water block, a pump, hoses and piping, a cooler and the power supply. The cooler capacity must match the number of machines and their power draw.

  1. Add up the power draw of all machines

    Add up the miners' power draw as stated by the manufacturer. Hydro machines usually draw 5–8 kW, so two miners need roughly 11–15 kW of cooling. Choose the cooler capacity with a margin, mainly because of summer temperatures.

  2. Cooler capacity vs. number of hydro ASICs

    The OCOCOO BC5 cooler (4–5 kW) is not enough for one powerful hydro miner. The 12 kW kit cools one machine with a margin, the ANTRACK V1 rack is for 4 miners up to 24 kW, and ANTSPACE hydro containers are for hundreds of machines.

  3. 380–415 V power supply

    Most powerful hydro miners need a three-phase 380–415 V supply. For the connection we have the LP-12-4 socket and an adapter made from CYKY-J 4×6 cable (1.5 m).

  4. Converting an air-cooled miner

    The Antminer S19j Pro can be converted to water cooling with a water block. We do the installation in our service centre from 2 490 Kč.

  5. Heat as heating

Frequently asked questions

How many hydro miners can one loop cool?

It depends on the cooler capacity and the machines' power draw. Add up the miners' power draw and compare it with the cooler capacity in kW – allow a margin for the cooler, mainly because of summer temperatures. For example, four Antminer S21+ Hyd units draw about 23.7 kW in total according to the manufacturer, and the ANTRACK V1 rack is built for 4 hydro miners up to 24 kW.

Can an air-cooled miner be converted to water cooling?

For some models, yes. For the Antminer S19j Pro we have a water block, and we do the installation in our service centre from 2 490 Kč – within two days if we have the parts in stock. For other models, write to us and we will check whether a conversion is possible.

What power supply do hydro miners need?

According to the manufacturers, powerful hydro miners draw around 5–8 kW and usually need three-phase 380–415 V. For the connection we offer the 4-pin LP-12-4 socket and an adapter made from CYKY-J 4×6 cable. The electrical installation should be designed and connected by an electrician.

How do I fill and bleed the loop?

While filling, switch the pump on and off several times so the fluid gets into the loop and the air escapes. Never let the pump run dry. For the leak test, place a paper towel on the hose joints – you will see any leak straight away. The recommended fluid is stated by the miner manufacturer in the manual.

Is water cooling suitable for home use too?

Yes. A hydro miner does not have powerful fans like an air-cooled ASIC; the noise comes mainly from the radiator. According to the manufacturer the 12 kW water cooling kit runs at 38 dB, and you can use its heat for space heating. Bear in mind, though, that most hydro machines need a three-phase supply.

Do you also supply hydro containers?

Yes, we supply Bitmain ANTSPACE HW5, HD5 and HW7 hydro containers for 210 to 308 miners to order. You will find them in the Containers category.

Water cooling for hydro ASIC miners

Hydro miners cool their chips with liquid flowing through water blocks on the hashboards. Compared with air-cooled machines they are quieter, keep a more stable temperature and their heat can be reused – for example to heat a house or warm water. Besides the miner, however, they need a complete loop: a pump, hoses, manifolds, a cooler and three-phase power.
