Miner hosting in Nigeria

Nigeria has the largest natural gas reserves in Africa, and most of the country’s electricity comes from gas-fired power plants, complemented by hydro plants on the Niger river. Our data centres use electricity generated from gas. Gas is a domestic resource available at a low price, which is why a kWh for mining costs less here than elsewhere.

The downside is a less stable grid than in Scandinavia. Uptime is therefore somewhat lower than in Norway or Finland – the current figure for each location is shown in the table above.

Nigeria is hot all year round, with high humidity in the south, and during the harmattan season around the turn of the year the wind brings dust from the Sahara. Miners therefore run in halls with powerful fans that constantly exchange the air. Air-cooled machines work here; just bear in mind that in the heat they run closer to their operating temperature.

At the lowest electricity price, even machines that make no sense elsewhere because of their consumption pay off. Purchase price and hashrate matter most: a cheaper miner with higher consumption often pays back sooner here than the most efficient new model. You pay for the electricity the miner uses. The price per kWh already includes management of the machine, excludes VAT and is the same for companies and private customers. New miners bought from us carry a 7-year warranty for as long as they run on our hosting. The miner mines on our pool and you send payouts to your own wallet.

One-off costs are installation – a one-time installation fee depending on the machine type – and shipping to the data centre. Customs and fees vary by location; you will see the exact amount in the hosting order before you pay.
