Description

The Canaan Avalon Mini 3 is a home Bitcoin miner that doubles as an electric heater. At 37.5 TH/s it draws 800 W (21.3 J/TH) and returns almost all of that energy to the room as heat.

Key features

  • 37.5 TH/s on SHA-256 – mines Bitcoin (BTC), solo or in a pool.
  • 800 W of heat – replaces an electric panel heater.
  • Quiet operation suitable for living spaces.
  • Standard 230 V socket.

Who it is for

For households that heat with electricity anyway – instead of a heater that only heats, you get a heater that mines Bitcoin at the same time. It is also a good fit for solo mining as a “lottery ticket” for a whole block.

Operation and installation

All you need is a socket and an internet connection. Place it wherever you would put an electric heater, with free space around it.

Frequently asked questions

What are the Avalon Mini 3 specifications?
SHA-256 algorithm, hashrate 37.5 TH/s, power draw 800 W, efficiency 21.3 J/TH, powered from a standard socket.
Does it really heat like a space heater?
Yes. Almost all of the power it draws (800 W) turns into heat, just like an electric heater.
What is solo mining?
In solo mining the miner searches for a whole block on its own. The chance is small, but if it finds a block, the whole reward is yours. On a pool you get smaller but regular payouts.
How much will the machine earn?
The calculator on this page estimates the daily earnings based on the current network difficulty, the exchange rate and your electricity price. Earnings change with difficulty, coin price and uptime, so treat them as an estimate, not a promise.

Setup guide

We will set it up for you free of charge. Send us your wallet address and the miner will mine for you alone. If you do not have a wallet yet, we will help you create one.

How to set up an ASIC miner
  1. Connect the network first, then the power. Connect the miner to your router with a network cable, on the same network as your computer. Only then switch it on.
  2. Find the IP address. You can find it in your router’s list of devices or with the manufacturer’s tool.
  3. Log in. Enter the IP address in your browser. The default username and password are in the manufacturer’s manual – we will gladly send it to you.
  4. Set up the pool. Enter the pool address in the form stratum+tcp://…; as the Worker, enter your pool account name or wallet address, a full stop and the machine name, and x as the password. Save.
  5. Check that it is mining. After a few minutes the miner will start mining. You can check the hashrate on the pool’s website.
