You can no longer play Resident Evil Re:Verse: Capcom shut down its servers on 29 June 2025 and the game has been unplayable ever since. It disappeared from Steam and other stores, together with all its add-ons, on 3 March 2025. If you are looking for a PC for the Resident Evil series, focus on Resident Evil Village or the newer Resident Evil Requiem.

What happened to Resident Evil Re:Verse

Re:Verse was an online third-person shooter that Capcom bundled with Resident Evil Village. Four to six players took part in a match, and anyone who died came back into the game as a bioweapon. The game was originally due to launch alongside Village in 2021, but after two delays it only came out in October 2022.

In February 2025 Capcom announced the end of the service. In its words, the game had “fulfilled its original celebratory purpose”. It happened in two steps:

Date What happened
3 Mar 2025 End of sales: the game and all add-ons (Premium Pass, RP packs, costumes) were removed from stores, including Steam.
29 Jun 2025 End of service: the servers were switched off and the game became unplayable. Game statistics on Resident Evil.net are no longer available.

The shutdown affected all platforms – PC (Steam), PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S. Resident Evil Village itself was not affected in any way; the single-player game is still on sale and playable.

For completeness, we are keeping the last official requirements from Steam. They are useful as a guide, because the game ran on the same RE Engine as Village.
