In December 2024 we added a new location to our ASIC miner hosting – a data centre in Ethiopia with a capacity of 3 MW. At launch, electricity cost 0.0549 USD per kWh including all fees, making it one of the cheapest locations we offer. Ethiopia is still available in our hosting today.

What happened

Ethiopia is one of the countries to which part of global bitcoin mining moved in 2023–2024. The reason is cheap electricity from hydroelectric plants. We opened the new centre for customers who buy a miner from us or send us their own and want to run it abroad.

Figures at launch (December 2024)

Parameter Value
Capacity 3 MW
Electricity price 0.0549 USD/kWh including fees
Energy source mainly hydroelectric plants

Prices have changed since launch. As of 16 October 2026, the price in Ethiopia is 0.0849 USD/kWh including management, with operational availability (uptime) of 98.92%. The cheapest location in our hosting currently comes to 1,13 Kč per kWh. Current prices for all locations can be found on the ASIC miner hosting page.

What this means for miners in the Czech Republic

Household electricity in the Czech Republic costs more than 5 CZK per kWh. For a large bitcoin miner drawing around 3.5 kW, most of the earnings at home often go on electricity. In a data centre abroad, costs drop to a fraction. Installation, connection and monitoring are handled by the data centre staff, and you track your earnings remotely. We compare the pros and cons of both approaches in the article Mining cryptocurrency at home.

How much each machine earns today after hosting electricity costs is shown in the ASIC miner profitability overview.
