Hardware: when your computer won't run
| Symptom | What we usually do |
|---|---|
| Nothing happens when you press the button | Check and repair the power supply, button and motherboard. |
| Fans spin, but there is no picture | Test the RAM, graphics card and motherboard; a BIOS update often helps. |
| Random restarts and blue screens | Stress tests of memory, drive, CPU and power supply; replacement of the faulty part. |
| Overheating and noise | Cleaning, new thermal paste, fan curve tuning. |
| Slow computer | Replacing the drive with an SSD, adding memory, upgrading the graphics card or CPU. |
Computer power supply repair
A faulty power supply is one of the most common reasons a computer won't start. We first test the power supply block by block, then replace the faulty components – capacitors, diodes, transistors or integrated circuits. If a repair isn't worth it, we will recommend a suitable new power supply with the right wattage and connectors.
Besides PC power supplies, we also repair the power circuits of other devices, such as projectors, printers or scanners.
BIOS update without an old CPU
You've bought a new processor and the motherboard doesn't “see” it – the fans spin, the board lights up, but there's no picture? The board needs a newer BIOS. This typically happens with new processors on older boards – for example AMD Ryzen 9000 on AM5 boards or Ryzen 5000 on AM4. We flash it straight into the chip with a programmer, so you don't need an older processor and you won't lose the board's warranty. For verification, bring the motherboard, processor and memory.
Software, Windows and data
- Installation and reinstallation of Windows with current drivers.
- Virus and malware removal, system speed-up.
- Data backup and transfer to a new computer.
- Data recovery from a drive that is not mechanically damaged.
- Secure data erasure before selling a computer.
- Remote software installation – no need to bring your computer in.
An upgrade instead of a new computer
Often all it takes is replacing one part – the graphics card, drive or memory – and the computer can handle new games too. We'll advise you on what is worth replacing and what isn't. If it's time for a new machine, take a look at our custom PC builds.
