What people most often bring to us
- Overheating and noise – the fan is clogged with dust and the CPU thermal paste has dried out. The laptop then slows down or shuts itself off.
- Won't turn on or freezes – the cause is usually the power circuitry, memory, drive or motherboard.
- Won't charge – a faulty charging port, charger or charging circuit on the board.
- Screen – a cracked panel, a dead backlight, stripes or a faulty display cable.
- Keyboard and touchpad – keys not working, often after a spill.
- Liquid spills – the sooner you bring the laptop in, the better the chance of saving it.
- Wi-Fi, sound, USB – faulty modules or connectors.
- Slow system – swapping the drive for an SSD, adding memory, reinstalling Windows.
Spilled something on your laptop? Do this
- Switch it off immediately – hold the power button, don't wait for the system to shut down.
- Unplug the charger and, if possible, remove the battery.
- Turn the laptop keyboard-side down so the liquid can drain out.
- Don't dry it with a hairdryer and don't try to switch it on.
- Bring it to the service centre as soon as possible – corrosion starts within hours.
